Course Description Credits MBA 500The course presents leadership and management theories/concepts that have emerged over the past several decades. This course focuses on how skills and abilities in leadership and management can be developed and applied by individuals in order to make a difference in organizations, communities, or societies. This will prepare students for a focus on servant leadership. Students will work in diverse learning teams and complete a personal vision, receive 360-degree feedback on their emotional and social competence and create a personalized learning plan to guide their development throughout the MBA program and beyond. 3 MBA 510This course examines the role of the human resource professional as a strategic partner in managing today’s organizations. Key functions such as recruitment, selection, development, appraisal, retention, compensation, and labor relations are examined. Implications of legal and global environments are appraised and current issues such as diversity training, sexual harassment policies, and rising benefit costs are analyzed. Best practices of employers of choice are considered. 3 MBA 520The primary objective of this course is to develop students' capability to be effective leaders and communicators. Drawing upon the field of organizational behavior and communication, the course examines individual’s effectiveness on three levels: developing the manager from the inside out, working effectively with diverse teams and leading effectively in organizations. The course sharpens written, oral, and listening skills to meet the demands of a successful managerial communicator. 3 MBA 530This course analyzes the key issues in operations management in both the manufacturing and service sectors. It will apply qualitative and quantitative analysis to such areas as quality, facility location, product mix, supply chain design, scheduling, inventory and quality control. Techniques may include linear programming network analysis, simulation, and decision trees. 3 MBA 540This course provides students with an understanding of the purpose and use of accounting information through the study of generally accepted accounting principles and concepts as applied to financial statements. Included is the measurement of assets, debt, and equities; determination of income; preparation of statement of cash flows. 3 MBA 600Students in this course will study the various aspects of marketing for developing sound marketing programs. Product planning, distribution policies, promotional activities, pricing strategies, marketing planning and evaluation are included. Emphasis is on the value added to customers and the organization through marketing. 3 MBA 610The concepts of financial planning, analysis, forecasting, and control are examined. Emphasis is on financial decision making from the perspective of the business firm. Topics include time value of money, ratio analysis, mergers, capital budgeting, risk, cost of capital, valuation, dividend policy, financial structure, and related financial topics. 3 MBA 620Focuses on the skills necessary to implement plans and manage projects, and to assess the performance of those plans and projects. Stresses project management, budgeting, quantitative performance evaluation, tactical programs and the leadership and communication skills vital to successful implementation processes. Additionally, this course provides an overview on the principles of entrepreneurship. Students will be required to develop and present a business plan for a new venture, including the production of market research, organizational needs, and financial statements to support an investment in the enterprise. 3 MBA 630This course provides an overview of information systems and connects organizational strategy to technology. The course topics includes information systems, system analysis and design, artificial intelligence, data analytics, and emerging technologies such as block chain. The course will also address ethical issues and considerations related to data. 3 MBA 640This course pulls together principles of strategy at the business and corporate levels, with a focus on applying those principles to business problems. Topics include industry analysis, firm resources and their implications, strategic fit, leadership and governance, the implementation of strategy, and the ethical implications of strategic decisions. 3
